Today was more than wet. We ventured out to see how high the floodwaters are. The creek has broken its banks and lots of the paddocks around our area are under water. Today Mummy was prepared and you were dressed for fun in the rain! We saw lots of ducks enjoying the many new ‘lakes’. We saw lots of bunnies attempting to find high ground as well as some fairly soggy looking cows. The weather people say that it should be improving by tomorrow. Lets hope so!
Today was wet. Make that VERY wet! Its been mostly wet for 3 days now are we are all starting to feel cabin fever. You are usually pretty patient with each other and play well together, but today has been a struggle… So we jumped in the car and went in search of fresh air. The lake was so grey and dreary, but there is a beauty in that. So we sloshed through the soggy grass and splashed in the puddles and got thoroughly soaked despite our umbrellas. Then we all dashed back to the car dripping wet but mostly feeling better.
You are a tinkerer, an explorer, a hero, an inventor and adventurer but most of all a philosopher. You constantly surprise me with insight beyond your five years. Granted, that insight is tempered with typical five year old toilet humour… but we wouldn’t have you any other way.
I remember when you were only a toddler and we had a big rain storm. I ran outside with you and we danced in it together and I told you that this is what we did when it rained… we danced, and appreciated the beauty of it. You took that lesson to heart it seems! There have since been many times I’ve had to explain that no… we can’t go outside and dance in the rain at school! Or in the middle of winter! But I love your enthusiasm for nature and love that you still stop whatever you are doing to dance in the rain… at least when we are at home!
Just before Christmas we lost your sweet little bunny Tweak. You were completely devastated. We don’t know what happened but we suspect it was a combination of a hot day and the general delicate nature of bunnies. Tweak was treated to what I can only assume was one of the most elaborate and heartfelt funeral services any bunny has ever received! Fortunately for your little heart, this little bunny was ready for a new home. Shes the younger sister of Tweak (from the same Mummy & Daddy bunny) and you’ve named her Sky Honeycomb. You have inherited my love of animals and it is beautiful to see you care for her.
