Day twenty two

February 22, 2010

Riley spent the day following Grandpa around today. When I came to pick him up he was full of exciting tales of visits to the park, swings, slides, horses and tents! The tent was still up in the back yard and Riley was so proud to demonstrate how he had helped grandpa hammer the pegs in. Talk about a happy camper! He had such a big day! Thank you Grandpa and Nanna for making the little boys day.

Day twenty one

February 21, 2010

This is Riley chasing Mummy and Daddy around the backyard with his little push wagon. We had another hot day today. It was far too hot to walk around the block, so the wiggles were banished with a bit of a run around the yard. As you can see, he thought it quite funny to chase everyone. Cute!

Day twenty

February 20, 2010

We had another hot day today. I can’t wait till we move into the lovely autumnal days ahead. In the mean time, poor little Riley needed to cool off and after playing in a bucket at Nanna and Grandpa’s house last week he decided that a bucket was the order of the afternoon! So out came the big bucket, and much fun was had by all. He just did not want to get out and ended up staying in there for nearly an hour (as evidenced by those wrinkly feet)!

Day nineteen

February 19, 2010

Today mothers group met at our place. We have an all boys mothers group (at least the first generation anyhow) so its always nice to see ‘the boys’ playing together. After breakfast I told Riley that ‘the boys’ would be coming around to play later in the morning. From then on, every noise coming from the street was met with great excitement and Riley running up the hallway yelling ‘Boys? Boys?’. Too cute. Of course once the boys were actually here and the reality of sharing toys hit, the gloss wore off slightly. I do have to say his sharing skills today were excellent – not a tear or tantrum in sight. The boys all think it appropriate to sit up at the big table to enjoy their morning snacks. This is Riley enjoying a strawberry between bites of vegie chips!

Day eighteen

February 18, 2010

Grandpa has recently retired and has been using his extra time to do useful things like making this chalkboard/easel. Riley just loves it and happily draws his version of cats and dogs in between bites of chalk. Today we decided it was high time the little boy tried finger painting. I would call the experiment a success. Riley had a ball, and I have to say that the resulting artwork is great! I seriously think he could put his own exhibition together in no time…

Day seventeen

February 17, 2010

Oh, how I love this little face!! How could you not?

Day fifteen

February 15, 2010

Wicked of eye and fiendish of claw…

Our faithful cat is not content to meow at the door to be let it… he must climb the door and make eye-contact! Note the mirror scratch marks on the inside of the door from the occasions that festivities outside are more interesting than inside.

Day fourteen

February 14, 2010

Happy Valentines Day! We don’t tend to celebrate Valentines Day with roses and heart-shaped cards at our place… pancakes made with love and shared with those you love is the order of the day!

Day thirteen

February 13, 2010

My boy loves trying on shoes… anyones shoes will do. If the cat wore shoes, Riley would be trying them on for sure! The best shoes, however are the shoes that make lots of noise – and mummys shoes usually make a very satisfying clip-clop on the wooden floors.
